Yo Ho Ho!

We celebrated Sam turning 4 last month, I can't believe he is that big already!! Sam chose a Jake and the Never Land Pirates themed birthday party, it was really fun to go all out for him :)
I had a completely hard but cool cake in mind but then Sam asked if he could have a treasure chest cake, still very cool but not as hard so I was happy to accept the challenge!

This is the gold doubloon on the front of the treasure chest, I tried to make it as much like the treasure chest from the show as possible.
The base of the cake was chocolate cake, the top of it is rice crispies, it was super humid that week so I had a hard time with things melting and drooping!

The back
I used chocolate fondant using my marshmallow fondant recipe but changing it by alternating cocoa powder and powder sugar a little at a time until it reached the right flavor I wanted. I used chocolate fondant because it helps you get to the red color faster. For the trim and gold parts I used yellow regular fondant and painted it with gold luster dust, its amazing the color it really looks like gold!

inside I made gold fondant coins and stamped some with an S :) I also made hard candy gems but they started melting due to the humidity but they tasted really good!! I  also made a ring, and bracelet out of fondant and candy pearls.

dont mind the gross corner lol we also bought the figures for my son for a present and put it with the cake.
a good friend of mine did face painting for us! You can see more of her work here http://www.provofacepainting.com/

Each child got to color their own party hat

We had a few games our first was Sink the Ship we made paper cannon balls and had painted ships tapes to buckets they would throw the cannon balls at each other and we would see how many there were when time was up who ever had the least in their ship won.

The littler ones had a hard time with the throwing part they just wanted to pick up and dump in the other teams boat :)

Then we played Save Your Shipmate where we tossed pool rings to catch the other team member

We had a fun treasure hunt, the main map took them to the first clue then each clue they found had a riddle to another place on the map they would follow all the clues until they found the treasure.

Finding more clues

Each clue had a trap by it so they would have to do something before they could pick it up :)

Here is the clue that led them to the tree on the map
Everyone got a goody bag out of the treasure chest in the end.

Sam picked a shark for his face paint it was a very popular choice.

Happy 4th to my little/big guy!

Happy Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter, it was very quiet and low key (we will be celebrating with family this weekend)
The boys loved their matching ties and even mom matched this time!
So handsome!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.

St. Patrick's Day

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day we set up a Leprechaun trap in hopes to catch one and make a wish! Sam wanted to wish that his stuffed dog Pal would turn real and talk :) So we got all the things Leprechaun like...Chocolate coins, Root Beer, and rainbows. Sam made the rainbows with pipe cleaners and beads and felt adding Kool Aid would add more color. We hoped our laundry basket would be enough to hold him :)

Well we dint catch him and he caused some silly mischief, he had a tea party with some of Sam's friends.

He didn't even finish his chocolate and he left little rainbow treats everywhere!

He also made some pancakes and left some for us and they were green but he made a mess with the flour leaving foot prints! Sam loved these and Colten loved making a mess with the flour!

And he left us all a little treat! A boat for Sam, animal crackers for Colten, a new hat for dad and chocolate for mom! He also drank one of the sodas!

It was all so much fun! And Sam is already talking about how to make a better trap for next year!

Hope You Had A Happy Halloween!

We had a wonderful Halloween this year. Here is our trunk from the trunk or treat we did with our ward. We had our fog machine and strobe light going but you cant see it in the picture.
Here is Sams first pumpkin he ever helped do, he loved drawing on the face. He did not love pulling out the seeds, so I ended up doing it (he has an issues with getting anything slimy or sticky on his hands like his dad)
Colten decked out in his duck costume, I was really glad with how it came out!
Super Sam! He loves his costume and is so glad now he can wear it.
I was glad he had the idea of adding a hood to his costume it got cold near the end of his trick or treating and was able to use it to keep his ears warm.
Do you see the little tail...its my fav!
Two of the cutest boys!
Here are our pumpkins mine is the one eating another one.
Stephen made a pacman ghost, sadly Monday is Stephens busiest day of the week but luckily he had enough time to quickly do his pumpkin with us.
Hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween!!

Merry Late Christmas

Our beautiful real tree, this is our first year that we have gotten a real tree which we loved!
Stephen woke up early and decorated the house with lights, all down the stairs, and the furniture in the living room
I made red and green pancakes with bananas and chocolate chips, lets say it went over really well with Sam
We went on to open presents, Sam decided he needed to open all the presents, he was very excited about the Twilight books I got and the Journal Stephen got along with all his fun things.

The last big surprise present was his home made pillow pet. He now sleeps with it every night and says it protects him from scary monsters its so cute!
Another fun surprise was a tent from Grandma and Grandpa Walker, which we set up and Sam and Dad and pillow pet had to climb right into and start reading books, it was so sweet!
 Sam in the tunnel
Grandma and Grandpa LeBlanc surprised us with another tent when we went to visit them Christmas day, Sam loved it and yet again Dad had to join him for a fun time.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and wonderful New Year, I know this is way late...
