Crafty Thursday: Car Seat Recover

My sister gave me a car seat to use for our new baby, only problem it was VERY pink, so I decided to recover it!

First I ripped out the seams holing the different parts of the car seat together, the nice thing was the fabric and batting was surged together for each section making it easy to take apart.

While ripping it apart, I marked darts and other tricky parts with a black marker on the batting

Here is how the darts looked when the stitching is ripped out

next I pinned each piece of the car seat to the new fabric with the batting side up

You can surge the new fabric onto the old, but I just did a zigzag stitch along the original surging line.

The slots where the straps come through are pretty much big button holes, my machine couldn't make one big enough so instead I did a zigzag stitch catching the original car seat fabric and used a seam ripper to open the slot.

Sewed each section together top first, then bottom, then together in the middle.

Finish off with some bias tape, add a cute baby....

And pink becomes cute green!

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Lion House Rolls

The other day I made these rolls, I wanted something as close to the yummy Lion House Rolls I had while living in Utah, and this recipe was amazing! I made a double batch and by the time dinner was over there wasn't a roll left!

I found the recipe at Mel's Kitchen Cafe I haven't had the chance to look at all the amazing recipes she has but just from browsing I know there is a lot more I want to cook from her! She also takes amazing photos of her food.

I followed her Lion House Dinner Roll recipe for my rolls and they turned out wonderfully fluffy and buttery. She has great photos at the end showing how to make them and a link to a video about how to roll them and a wonderful link about the difference in active dry yeast and instant dry yeast, I thought they were the same...but they aren't : ) My rolls look a little funky because I was in a big rush and put them on the pan wrong, but they still turned out very yummy.

Pier 1 Outdoor Finds!

Now that we are getting ready to move back to Utah I have been thinking a lot about how we are going to decorate our condo. At our place we have a small back patio where we had our barbeque before and loved to eat outside. I found out that Pier 1 now has beautiful outdoor furniture and décor.

These stools would easily make a beautiful update to any patio, I love that they could be used for seating or to set planters on or even a side table for inside!

I also came across Pier 1’s Papasans they have available. The bright teal cushion would look amazing outside or in!

Spring has deffinately sprung at Pier 1, with a large selection of seasonal items for everyone.
